La Rochelle

A thousand-year-old city resolutely turned towards the future, a beautiful and generous city, which combines the preservation of an exceptional natural and architectural heritage with an innovative, reasoned and harmonious development of its territory.

Its old port and the towers that guard its entrance have made it world famous. Its towers date from the 14th and 15th centuries. They survived the siege of La Rochelle by Richelieu. On either side of the entrance, the Saint-Nicolas tower, the highest, and the Chaîne tower, then, further on, linked to the latter by a wall, the Lantern tower, both a lighthouse and a defence.

With over 2000 hours of sunshine, La Rochelle is one of the most attractive and dynamic cities in France.
