The Old Port

The Old Port is the city's historic port. The two medieval towers guarding the entrance have made it world famous. It is thanks to this port that La Rochelle became important during the Hundred Years' War, then with the discovery of America.

The famous towers of La Rochelle, vestiges of the successive sieges of the city and proud guardians of the city, are a testimony to the power of La Rochelle since the Middle Ages.
